Meet our client
Nanyang Technological University (NTU) is one of Singapore's leading research universities. Their Science and Technology bridging programme prepares each student cohort through a structured academic and pastoral journey spanning enrolment, coursework, assessment, and family communication.
Context
NTU's Science and Technology bridging programme moves each intake through enrolment, timetabling, attendance, assessment, and family communication. The university wanted to run that whole journey on one secure system, with self-service for students and parents, instead of fragmented spreadsheets and disconnected tools.
Challenge
The programme needed an enterprise-grade platform, not a patchwork:
- Enrolment, timetabling, attendance, and results handled manually across separate tools
- Several campus systems to connect, including the university directory, admissions, and student wellbeing
- University-standard security, single sign-on, and role-based access as hard requirements
- No self-service visibility for students and parents
- A firm delivery timeline and a multi-year support and hosting commitment
What we did
VentureSEA delivered the platform end to end, from requirements through commissioning, hosting, and ongoing support.
- Built a bespoke student management platform on a proven open-source student information core, tailored to the programme's rules
- Delivered eight modules in one system: enrolment, timetable, attendance, results, events, a student and parent dashboard with communications, reporting and analytics, and access control with user roles
- Wired single sign-on through the university's Active Directory, with role-based access controlling exactly what each user type can see and do
- Integrated the admissions and student wellbeing systems with scoped data access to protect student records under the university's information security policy
- Procured and ran secure cloud hosting to the university's availability and security requirements, hardened and cleared through annual penetration testing
- Ran a milestone delivery with requirements, system, and user acceptance sign-offs, a three-month hyper-care period, then multi-year license, maintenance, and support
- Staffed a compact squad of five across delivery lead, full-stack engineering, QA, and DevOps, keeping one accountable owner from kickoff through hyper-care
Outcome and impact
- One system of record across the student bridging journey
- Single sign-on and role-based access, secured to university standard
- Self-service dashboards and communications for students and parents
- A hosted, secured, multi-year platform the university can extend
Business value
A bridging programme runs every intake through enrolment, timetabling, attendance, results, and parent communication. Done across spreadsheets and disconnected tools, that is a standing drain on programme and registry staff and a steady source of errors. Consolidating it into one platform with self-service dashboards typically returns 60 to 70 percent of that administrative overhead, on the order of one to two full-time equivalents across a programme office. At Singapore admin staff rates that is roughly $60,000 to $80,000 in redirected annual cost. The larger return is institutional: one trusted source of student data, faster reporting, and a secured platform the university can extend for years.
